Switzerland now has five three-star Michelin restaurants

Andermatt’s The Japanese Restaurant moved up in the selection released on 2 November. The list also gives Hungarian culinary travellers a new planning reference.

Switzerland’s Michelin selection presented on 2 November contains five three-star restaurants, up from four: The Japanese Restaurant in Andermatt advanced from two stars to three. For Hungarian travellers, the updated ranking offers a fresh reference for planning culinary itineraries in Switzerland.

The Michelin announcement lists 133 starred restaurants in total. Of these, 106 have one star, 22 have two and five have three; adding the three categories confirms the stated total.

Our calculation shows a 25 per cent increase in the number of three-star establishments, although this represents just one restaurant moving up. The percentage therefore describes the size of the top category, not the performance or revenue of Swiss hospitality as a whole.

An itinerary should assign separate budgets to transport and accommodation alongside the restaurant rating. Stars reveal neither the current menu price nor table availability on the chosen date; both need checking on the restaurant’s own website before booking.

The Philippine selection offers another example of international dining options, while Hong Kong’s programme centres on events. The next practical step for a Swiss trip is to verify the selected restaurant’s opening hours, menu and cancellation terms. This is a source-based report, not our own restaurant review.
