Tianjin appears in the Michelin restaurant guide for the first time: the announcement dated 28 October lists 27 establishments in the city’s 2027 selection. For Hungarian readers travelling to China, this offers a new reference point, although booking conditions and the actual menu still need separate verification alongside the guide’s assessment.
According to Michelin’s announcement, China Banquet received one star. Sixteen restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition and ten were Michelin Selected. The three categories add up to 27; we do not count Bib Gourmand as a star. The announcement is dated 2026, whereas the edition’s name refers to 2027.
For readers, distinguishing these categories is the first step. Selection is a professional assessment, not a report of our own visit or a price guarantee. When planning a trip, the current menu, any deposit and cancellation terms together determine the cost of dining; the establishment’s own information can answer these questions.
Our story on new Michelin stars in the American South covers a different geographical selection. The Hungarian culinary team’s mentoring programme concerns competition preparation under a different assessment framework. In Tianjin, the next practical step is to compare individual guide listings with the venues’ current opening hours; we make no claim about a personal dining experience or booking availability. The classification is therefore best used as a selection aid, while dining details should be checked directly with the venue.
