KSH reported on September 14 that Hungarian construction output in July 2026 was 12.2% below a year earlier. The volume of newly signed contracts fell by 24.8%. These measures describe completed work and new orders, respectively, rather than home sale prices.
Construction includes more than housing: other buildings and infrastructure also influence the aggregate. The timing of a large project can therefore change national output without any immediately visible change in housing supply in a particular Budapest district.
What should a prospective buyer examine? For an individual development, construction progress, funding and the promised delivery date matter more than the national percentage alone. Falling contractor orders do not establish that a home will become cheaper. Equally, fewer new projects do not make every existing property more valuable.
Future releases can reveal a trend through order books and actual work completed together. Assessing home prices requires separate transaction data. Development activity and housing demand should be followed as distinct sides of the market.
