EU extends hybrid-threat sanctions to October 2027

The Council of the EU extended restrictions over Russian destabilising activities until 9 October 2027; 80 people and 20 entities remain listed.

On 8 October 2026, the Council of the European Union extended individual restrictive measures over Russia's destabilising activities abroad by one year, until 9 October 2027. The decision covers 80 people and 20 entities.

Listed parties face asset freezes, while EU citizens and companies may not make funds or economic resources available to them. Natural persons are also subject to entry and transit bans. The Council includes foreign information manipulation and interference among the reasons for the extension.

For Hungarian companies, the practical stake is counterparty, ownership and beneficiary screening: the measure is not a general trade embargo, but direct or indirect provision of resources to listed parties creates legal risk. The exact obligation must be assessed against the consolidated Council decision and the circumstances of each transaction.
