According to Budapest Stock Exchange closing data, the BUX ended 12 October at 142,940.29 points, 0.90% above the previous trading day, with equity turnover of HUF 36,748 million. OTP rose 3.33% to HUF 41,640; MOL fell 1.56% to HUF 4,976, Magyar Telekom declined 1.25% to HUF 2,530, and Richter was unchanged at HUF 12,350. An OTP treasury-share transaction notice was published at the same time, but that does not establish exclusive causation.
In Europe, the Deutsche Börse DAX closed at 25,277.68, up 0.76%. The Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.45% to 6,201.35, the CAC 40 rose 0.38% to 7,832.88 and the FTSE 100 added 0.99% to 10,656.28.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 fell 0.06% to 7,807.24 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.44% to 27,245.90, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.38% to 51,850.55, according to the US summary. The US bond market was closed while equities traded.
For Hungarian investors, Budapest's gain has a direct portfolio effect because of OTP's weight. Related context is the Friday close review and our IMF systemic-risk analysis. Tuesday's US bank earnings and energy prices provide the next check.
