Five morning stories: industry, energy and Budapest lights

On 3 November, a manufacturing survey, completed energy trials and three cultural, culinary and diplomatic developments provide points of reference.

  1. An industrial signal for Hungarian suppliers. The October PMI of 53.1 still signals expansion, but represents a slight decline against the latest September base. Drawing on the original release, our article distinguishes the index’s level, its movement and implications for business cost planning.

  2. After the trials, outcomes matter. The OPENTUNITY energy project is moving to evaluation of data from completed demonstrations. Before adoption in Hungary, integration, the measurement baseline and implementation costs need clarification; the technology catalogue alone does not establish quantified savings.

  3. A fresh reference for Swiss dining. The new Swiss Michelin selection now includes five three-star restaurants. Alongside the rating, Hungarian travellers still need to check the specific location, booking arrangements and total travel costs separately.

  4. Two evenings remain for Budapest’s light programme. The 70 fény memorial installation can be visited at City Hall Passage on both 3 and 4 November, from 5 to 10 pm. Observing the laser-light visitor rules and planning the journey home are part of arranging a family outing.

  5. An announced bilateral meeting. The Hungarian–Czech presidential talks have been announced for 10 November in Prague. Once the programme is set, the next substantive question is which concrete joint steps the parties report; such an outcome cannot yet be inferred from the announcement.
