Google and Constellation signed a 20-year power purchase agreement targeting 890 megawatts of added capacity through uprates at 11 US nuclear units. According to the Constellation release, the first uprate is expected in 2028 and the full programme before the end of 2032.
The companies also launched a five-year technology alliance to test Google Gemini Enterprise tools in selected nuclear operating workflows. Constellation links the programme to $4.3 billion of investment, preservation of 4,400 existing jobs and 7,200 construction jobs. These are company estimates, not results already delivered.
The Hungarian relevance is indirect: rising data-centre electricity demand is increasing the value of long-term, low-carbon capacity in Europe as well. The agreement does not create immediately available power; uprates require engineering work, regulatory approval and grid connections. The long contract can make financing more predictable, but it does not remove execution risk. Related reading: the Schneider Electric–PTC transaction and the Kyoto AI-for-science vision. The next verifiable step is licensing and commissioning the first uprate in 2028.
