The European Data Protection Board’s public consultation on web scraping in the context of generative artificial intelligence closes on 30 October at 23:59 CET. For Hungarian developers, the deadline provides an opportunity to raise specific questions about their own data-acquisition processes during the consultation phase.
The consultation page lists an opening date of 8 July and a closing date of 30 October. The Board’s October short guide discusses both collecting data directly and using a dataset obtained from another party. The deadline provides the news relevance; this is not the announcement of a new law.
A useful business submission could identify where training data comes from, who determines the purpose of collection and what checks precede use. That makes uncertainty in a specific workflow assessable, rather than expressing general support or opposition. A public comment can explain the problem without publishing examples containing personal data or business secrets.
Our reporting on Swedish network-access scrutiny and a supplier-switching proposal follows other technology-policy questions. The next development to watch is the EDPB’s post-consultation announcement and any final text. The present deadline does not establish its adoption date or specific contents.
A submission can also identify the relevant paragraph of the document. This makes clear which sentence raises the practical issue and what clarification would resolve the developer’s uncertainty.
