Partners approve expansion of Azerbaijan's Absheron gas field

TotalEnergies says the development would increase the field's annual gas production from 1.5 billion to 6 billion cubic metres, with start-up expected in 2029. Gas would supply Azerbaijan's domestic market and exports to Turkey.

SOCAR's announcement confirms an investment milestone. It does not represent additional capacity already operating, or by itself establish a supply contract for Hungary.
