According to the government notice, consultation on amendments to the itemised tax for small businesses closes on 14 October. The proposal would raise the annual revenue threshold from HUF 18 million to HUF 22 million and reopen the scheme to part-time entrepreneurs, pensioners and students. Invoicing companies would again be permitted.
The monthly tax for full-time taxpayers would be HUF 100,000 from 2027; those invoicing only private individuals would pay a transitional HUF 75,000 in 2027 and HUF 100,000 from 2028. The part-time amount would be HUF 50,000. Revenue above HUF 22 million would face a 40% surtax, while company income would face a 15% charge after deducting KATA paid.
For Hungarian small businesses, the proposal affects revenue planning, pricing and social insurance, but only an adopted and promulgated law will set the final rules. Related context includes tax relief for hauliers and the IMF growth outlook. After consultation closes, the submitted legal text and commencement date will be decisive.
