Morning five: euro, tariff relief, WHO and audio AI

Sunday's morning five covers Hungary's euro costs, Armenian tariff relief, a WHO assessment, the Apple–Huxe arrangement and slowing global growth.

  1. The MNB estimates that adopting the euro could remove HUF 130 billion in annual conversion costs. Its 10 October statement set no accession date and put readiness ahead of speed.

  2. Selected Armenian goods receive two years of EU tariff relief. Importers must still verify the product code, tariff quota and preferential origin.

  3. WHO found no ongoing transmission linked to the death of an Irkutsk laboratory worker. Tests for plague and other examined high-threat pathogens were negative, but the cause of the fatal pneumonia remains unknown.

  4. Apple will receive a non-exclusive licence to Huxe technology and may offer jobs to some employees. The EU register does not describe a full company acquisition, and Apple has not disclosed a product plan.

  5. Global growth is slowing even as trade expands: UNCTAD forecasts 2.6% world growth in 2026. For Hungarian exports, energy prices and the forint, the composition of demand and the exchange rate remain central risks.
