A joint state–Budapest organisation would coordinate the redevelopment of Rákosrendező, while the site would remain publicly owned. Portfolio reported Dávid Vitézy's October 3 announcement; the city's statement had already recorded the agreement on joint development. For Budapest's housing supply, the important issues are land use and the construction of supporting infrastructure.
The government's October 1 statement says housing development would be aligned with the Wekerle Sándor Housing Construction Programme. Saturday's report adds joint coordination and planned EU funding for infrastructure. Details would be developed at later meetings of the Metropolitan Public Development Council; the announcement does not establish an approved EU grant or a completion date.
The development intention offers a longer-term opportunity to expand supply. Household purchase decisions still require separate consideration of quarterly Hungarian house-price changes and the effect of higher mortgage rates. Financing, transport links and permitting may together determine when new housing actually reaches the market. The next developments to watch are the establishment and duties of the joint organisation, followed by detailed financing and timetable decisions. A dependable move-in or purchase date therefore cannot yet be based on the planned housing; the announcement concerns organisational and financing preparation.
