Hungarian industrial output rose 8.7% year on year in August 2026, both in the raw and working-day-adjusted series. Seasonally and working-day-adjusted volume increased 1.0% from July, while output in January–August was 3.4% above the same period of 2025. The latest Hungarian Central Statistical Office release therefore shows both monthly and annual expansion.
Growth was driven by motor vehicles and by computers, electronic and optical products. Output still fell in most manufacturing subsectors, including electrical equipment and food, beverages and tobacco. For Hungarian suppliers this split matters: stronger leading export industries do not yet amount to an evenly distributed industrial turn.
For company planning, detailed order books and demand in export markets may therefore be more informative than the aggregate monthly index alone. The next flash release, covering September industrial output, is due on 4 November. Until then, the detailed breakdown and any revision will show how durable the improvement is.
