Volkswagen builds Europe plan around four urban EVs

Volkswagen is presenting a European electric urban-car family of four models, three brands and one shared technology platform at the opening of the Paris Motor Show.

A Volkswagen Group statement dated 11 October puts an Electric Urban Car Family of four models, three brands and one common technology platform at the centre of the Paris Motor Show opening. The group promises European development and production, but the statement gives no new sales target or investment amount.

The plan matters to Hungary's vehicle industry and suppliers because shared platforms, batteries and software can redirect orders, investment priorities and labour demand. Audi's Győr operation creates a direct corporate link to group-level European choices, although Volkswagen has not announced a specific new production role for Hungary in this release.

Our report on Europe's autonomous-vehicle roadmaps provides the technology context, while the EU's new raw-material projects cover the supply chain. The next concrete tests will be the models' production locations, prices and market-launch timetable.
