How do policy rates reach business borrowing?

Through monetary-policy transmission, central-bank rates influence the rates households and companies pay on loans and receive on deposits. The ECB Data Portal tracks these in separate statistical series.

Analysis of business finance therefore benefits from examining actual bank rates alongside policy decisions. Loan maturity and the period of rate fixation also matter when comparing products.
