EMNLP reaches its second main conference day in Budapest

The 26 October programme includes an afternoon keynote by Graham Neubig; the language-technology event runs until 29 October.

The EMNLP language-technology conference holds its second main conference day in Budapest on 26 October. For Hungarian developers and businesses using language models, assessing research findings matters because a general benchmark score only partly describes performance on their own tasks.

The official programme places Graham Neubig’s keynote at 15:15–16:15 on Monday. The event website lists the Budapest event for 24–29 October. We report no results or statements from an advertised talk before it takes place.

Our suggested assessment of a Hungarian customer-service application asks three questions. What Hungarian-language sample was used to test the system? How much manual correction does its answer require? Can it hand the case to a human colleague after an unsuccessful response? Sample composition, correction time and the functioning of the handover are separate observations worth recording before deployment.

Our quality-management standard article addressed documented processes, while the argument presented at MIT concerned independent thinking. When reading conference materials, the precise testing task can be considered alongside these issues. Next, actually accessible papers and evaluation data linked to the presentations can provide further evidence. We checked the undated programme on 26 October and claim no on-site attendance.
