Airport operator SAC extended the closure of airspace sector C1 because of volcanic ash and prevailing winds, according to LaPresse. The deadline is in Catania local time, which matches Budapest time on this date.
TG La7 reported that the previous plan had envisaged restarting at noon on Sunday. The new decision supersedes that timetable.
SAC asks passengers to check their flight with the airline before travelling to the airport. The 23:59 deadline is not a guaranteed reopening time: subsequent operational notices remain decisive.
