EU opens €40 million call for startup and scaleup hubs

The EU pilot targets two networks of roughly 10–18 hubs each; for Hungarian innovation organisations, the 5 January deadline and 22 October briefing are the next concrete dates.

A 20 October notice from Hungary's NRDI Office drew Hungarian applicants' attention to the European startup and scaleup hubs pilot. The primary EISMEA call records an available budget of €40 million and a single-stage deadline of 17:00 on 5 January 2027.

The action seeks to pilot two networks of roughly 10–18 hubs each. It would connect research and higher-education institutions, technology organisations, companies, entrepreneurs and investors, with the goals of helping deep-tech firms scale, improving access to laboratories, capital and mentoring, and narrowing regional gaps. The available budget is not an amount awarded to any Hungarian participant.

Our articles on the harmonised AI standard and Anthropic's public-benefit fund address different technology-governance questions. An online briefing is scheduled for 22 October; applicants must verify their own eligibility, consortium and cost plan in the original call.
