A delegation from the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee held talks in China on 27–29 October and subsequently called for continued engagement and concrete results. Enikő Győri’s participation provided a Hungarian presence; for domestic exporters, practical market-access conditions may be the dialogue’s most important implications.
According to the republished committee statement, the delegation led by Bernd Lange visited Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai. The text presents the delegation’s position. It calls for trade outcomes rather than announcing a new bilateral agreement already in force.
For a Hungarian company, institutional dialogue becomes directly assessable when implementation documents identifying the affected products, procedures and deadlines also appear. New export revenue cannot therefore be calculated automatically from the visit. A business decision will require comparing specific customs, authorisation and contractual conditions with the present situation.
The EU–Canada summit programme follows another negotiating process, while the EU–UNEP partnership presents announced institutional cooperation. After the China visit, the next substantive development may be a specifically identified measure resulting from the discussions. We attribute the EP’s position to its statement and do not infer the host side’s agreement or commitment from it.
